Meaning of life

Meaning of life

The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.  What is called resignation is confirmed desperation.  From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats.  A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind.  There is no play in them, for this comes after work.  But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things.

Life is like a blanket too short.  You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night.

I have a simple philosophy:  Fill what's empty.  Empty what's full.  Scratch where it itches.
Don't think of retiring from the world until the world will be sorry that you retire.  I hate a fellow whom pride or cowardice or laziness drive into a corner, and who does nothing when he is there but sit and growl.  Let him come out as I do, and bark.

The philosophy of mine earth can be summed up as this:  Sunshine creates happiness, and I create myself.  Nights are long and life is predominantly good.  Wind is refreshing.  Tea is wisdom.  Do the best you can, and be good to yourself so that you can above all be good to others.

I say to my child, I will explain to you as much of life as I can, but you must remember that there is a part of life for which you are the explanation.

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle.  But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth.  Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize:  a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child - our own two eyes.  All is a miracle.

One day can make your life.  One day can ruin your life.  All life is is four or five big days that change everything.

Beauty is precious, you see, and the more beautiful something is, the more precious it is; and the more precious something is, the more it hurts us that it will fade away; and the more we are hurt by beauty, the more we love the world; and the more we love it, the more we are saddened that it is like finely powdered salt that runs away through the fingers, or is puffed away by the wind, or is washed away by the rain.

"Psychology"

In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is "Psyche", which translated means "soul". This was also the name for Eros' human lover and when the two figures are depicted they are often surrounded by butterflies. In one of the Russian dialects, butterflies are referred to as "dushuchka" which is a derivative of the word "dusha" also meaning soul. A butterfly symbolizes change.
There is also an Irish saying that refers to the symbolic meaning of butterflies. This saying is: "Butterflies are souls of the dead waiting to pass through purgatory" Butterflies also symbolize: Resurrection, Transition, Celebration, Lightness, Time, Soul. There is a small town in Mexico that also associate butterflies with souls. It is to this town that Monarch Butterflies migrate every year, around the holiday known as the Day of the Dead. The people of this town see these butterflies as the returning souls of the deceased.
Psychology comes from two words: psyche and logos. Psyche is the greek word which means soul or spirit, loosely translated as mind. Logosmeans knowledge or study like all “logies”. The first greek letter psi in psyche is used as the international symbol for psychology. Hence, Psychology was originally defined as: the study of the mind.Psychology is the key mind science because it it is the understanding of how perception governs behaviour. How we think affects everything else. Psychology is about understanding. It is about understanding people and the mind.Human nature is perpetual. It is the same today as it was from ancient history. So the principles of psychology are fixed and enduring. You will never need to unlearn what you learn about them.Art being a thing of the mind, it follows that any scientific study of art will be psychology. It may be other things as well, but psychology it will always be.“A fundamental understanding of the human psyche is the essential key to successful magic Understanding psychology doesn’t mean you’ll always be aware of it or use it. The first step is to understand it, the next step is keeping it in awareness and using it. Psychology consists of subtle differences but big distinctions. It is the little psychological subtleties that make all the difference.
What is mind? The dictionary defines mind as
1) That which thinks, perceives, feels, wills, etc.;
2) Intelligence or intellect, being the faculty of mind by which one knows or understands, as distinguished from that by which one feels or wills. It is the capacity for thinking and acquiring knowledge;
3) Conscious and the unconscious together as a unit or psyche.
When a person is able to act from the plane of Buddhi-Manas, he becomes a genius. In Manas the thoughts of all lives are stored. The Lower Manas operating through the brain is at once altered into the shape and characteristics of any object, mental or otherwise, it dwells on. Patanjali says that "the mind is 'modified' by any object or subject brought before it, or to which it is directed. Four peculiarities of the Lower Manas are: (1) Like a butterfly, it flies to any object or subject. (2) It flies to a pleasant idea. (3) It flies to an unpleasant idea. (4) It remains passive.
The mind is merely a tool, instrument, or means, by which the soul acquires experiences and knowledge. In each incarnation the mind is, at it were, new. It is a portion of the apparatus furnished to the soul through innumerable lives for obtaining experience and reaping the fruit of works performed. The notion that the mind is either knower or experience is a false one, which is to be removed before emancipation can be reached by soul. It was therefore said that the mind operates or exists for the carrying out of the soul's salvation, and not the soul for mind's sake. When this is fully understood, the permanency of soul is seen, and all the evils flowing from false ideas begin to disappear.

Learning

Learning is a continuous process and the true learner always looks avenues to learn from any body and everybody. There is no bar on learners age or the age of the teacher. A young child can teach you something which you may have not learnt till now. Similarly, every old and poor man can teach you something very important. It is great to say  here my sons have become an avenues for me to learn new things through  face book with their quotations, narrations and comments.

LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE

LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE
When someone walks out of your life, let them. There’s no use in wasting your time on people that leave you. What you make of yourself and your future is no longer tied to them. Yeah, you may miss them, but remember that you weren’t the first one to give up.
I don’t understand how you can smile all day long but cry yourself to sleep at night. How pictures never change but the people in them do. How your best friend can become your worst enemy, or how strange it is when your worst enemy turns into your best friend. How forever turns into a few short months that you’d do almost anything to get back. How you can let go of something you once said you couldn’t live without. How even though you know something is best for you, it just hurts the same. How the people who once wanted to spend every second with you, think a few minutes of their time is too much to spare. How people make promises despite knowing how common it is for promises to be broken. How people can erase you from their lives just because it’s easier than working things out.
I don’t believe you get over someone when you break up. I think you get over them after you’ve watched them move on.
Take a step back. Look at yourself. You are human. You are beautiful. you are so beautiful. And you can be anything. You can be everything. Do not hate because someone broke your heart, or because your parents split up or your best friend betrayed you. Do not concern yourself with things you cannot control. Cry when you need to, then let go when it’s time. Don’t hang on to painful memories just because you’re afraid to forget. Let go of things that are in the past. Forget things that aren’t worth remembering. Stop taking things for granted. Stop taking life for granted. Live for something. Live for yourself. Fall in love. Fall out of love. Fall in love. Fall out of love. Do this over and over until you know what it really is to love someone. Question things. Tell people how you really feel. Sleep under the stars. Create. Imagine. Inspire. Share something wonderful. Make something beautiful and then destroy it. Meet new people. Make someone’s day. Follow your dreams. Live your life to its full potential. Just live. Let go of all the horrible things in your life and just live. And one day, when you’re old, look back with no regrets.
Over thinking ruins you… ruins the situation, turns things around, makes you worry, and just makes things worse than it actually is.
This goes out to all of the people who have been broken, but have been strong enough to let go. For the people who have hurt so badly that they felt that they could never love again, but kept their head up. For the people who that learn from their mistakes and never stop moving forward, even when they take two steps back. For the people that wish loneliness wasn’t a part of them, but put up with it anyhow. For the people that are okay with taking up all of the room in the bed, even if it sometimes feels a little empty. For the people who wake up in the morning with no missed calls, but smile anyway. For the people who periodically miss the past, but are so much more excited for the future. For the people that have wounds still healing. For the people that have so much tied to their past relationship, but break those chains to start fresh. For the people that want to look back so badly, but focus on the road ahead. For the people that pick up the phone and are tempted to call, but keep their dignity intact instead. For the people that never wanted to let go, but had to. For the people that still believe in love even after all of the hurt their heart has endured. For all the people that gave up not because they were weak, but because most times, it’s better just to let go. We’ll all get our happy ending someday.

“Soul mate”

“Soul mate”
Plato: In his dialogue The Symposium, Plato has Aristophanes present a story about soul mates. Aristophanes states that humans originally had four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them

According to Theosophy, whose claims were modified by Edgar Cayce, God created androgynous souls equally male and female. Later theories postulate that the souls split into separate genders, perhaps because they incurred karma while playing around on the Earth, or "separation from God." Over a number of reincarnations, each half seeks the other. When all karmic debt is purged, the two will fuse back together and return to the ultimate.
In modern usage, Jewish singles will say that they are looking for their bashert, meaning they are looking for that person who will complement them perfectly, and whom they will complement perfectly. Since it's considered to have been foreordained by God whom one will marry, one's spouse is considered to be one's bashert by definition, independent of whether the couple's marital life works out well or not.
There is no doubt that somewhere, possibly in the deepest recesses of our heart; we are all looking for a person who will make us feel complete. It could be your spouse, parent, sibling, friend, guru, boss or even your pet dog.
The search for a soul mate is becoming an obsession with many, its sole reason being that they are convinced that finding their soul's ideal counterpart will lead to undreamed-of happiness and fulfillment. But, to disappoint the forever romantic, a soul mate is not necessarily linked with love and marriage.
There are three kinds of soul mates: Companion souls, with whom you share a spiritual relationship;
you have a mental relationship with twin souls and soul mates, with whom you share a strong bonding.

The last could have developed over many rebirths together and is physical, possibly leading to marriage. A soul mate could be a missing half of your soul. It could take many reincarnations for the souls to meet and come together. Then again, a soul mate need not be a part of your soul, but someone with whom you share an affinity, possibly developed over many lives.
The first step is to be happy with your self. Do not consider that you are in a needy position.

• Do exercises on self-esteem if required, but you must have this feeling of self-worth. Only then will you be worthy of any relationship, especially a soul mate one.
• Do things you love to do. It is much easier to attract a soul mate if you are a fulfilled person.
• Identify what exactly you are looking for. A lot of things will get concretized once you acknowledge your dreams and your approach is more focused.
• Attend meditation-oriented courses that help clean the negative aspects in your other relationships. This helps remove mental blocks, if any.
• Practice creative visualization techniques.
• Experience a feeling, then surrender to it.
• Do your own research. Look for inspiration from others who are happy, those who appear as 'made for each other' couples.
• Go through books and magazines, find your role model
You may try finding your soul's counterpart/s with the help of computers—or astrologers, psychics and other experts. You could attend seminars or read books on the subject. Or you could simply rely on your instincts to lead you to your soul mates. To take a broader angle, we all may be soul mates, It is noted that the ultimate soul mate is God, the universal consciousness of which every soul is a part.
"A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are...
"Our soul mate is the one who makes life come to life."

Eight Basic Steps to Maintaining a Good Relationship

Eight Basic Steps to Maintaining a Good Relationship

  1. Be aware of what you and your partner want for yourselves and what you want from the relationship.
  2. Let one another know what your needs are.
  3. Realize that your partner will not be able to meet all your needs. Some of these needs will have to be met outside of the relationship.
  4. Be willing to negotiate and compromise on the things you want from one another.
  5. Do not demand that a partner change to meet all your expectations. Work to accept the differences between your ideal mate and the real person you are dating.
  6. Try to see things from the other's point of view. This doesn't mean that you must agree with one another all the time, but rather that both of you can understand and respect each other's differences, points of view, and separate needs.
  7. Where critical differences do exist in your expectations, needs, or opinions, try to work honestly and sincerely to negotiate. Seek professional help early rather than waiting until the situation becomes critical.
  8. Do your best to treat your partner in a way that says, "I love you and trust you, and I want to work this out."

Memories

1.      We do not remember days; we remember moments.
2.      No canvas absorbs color like memory.
3.      Memory is the diary that we all carry about with us.
4.      Every man's memory is his private literature.
5.      In literature and art memory is a synonyme for invention. It is the life-blood of imagination, which faints and dies when the veins are empty.
6.      Our memories are independent of our wills.
7.      The memory is a treasurer to whom we must give funds, if we would draw the assistance we need.
8.      Memory is not so brilliant as hope, but it is more beautiful, and a thousand times more true.
9.      The richness of life lies in memories we have forgotten.
10.  Memory is the cabinet of imagination, the treasury of reason, the registry of conscience and the council-chamber of thought.
11.  Memories are hunting horns whose sound dies on the wind.
12.  When our memories outweigh our dreams, we have grown old.
13.  I have memories - but only a fool stores his past in the future.
14.  Memory, in widow's weeds, with naked feet stands on a tombstone.
15.  A man's real possession is his memory. In nothing else is he rich, in nothing else is he poor.
16.  Memory is what makes us young or old.
17.  Memory is a paradise out of which fate cannot drive us.
18.  Do not trust your memory; it is a net full of holes; the most beautiful prizes slip through it.
19.  Memory seldom fails when its office is to show us the tombs of our buried hopes.
20.  Memory is the power to revive again in our minds those ideas which after imprinting have disappeared, or have been laid aside out of sight.
21.  Memory is the primary and fundamental power, without which there could be no other intellectual operation.
22.  We must always have old memories and young hopes.
23.  The memory of past favors is like a rainbow, bright, vivid, and beautiful; but it soon fades away. The in memory of injuries is engraved on the heart, and remains forever.
24.  Creditors have better memories than debtors.
25.  Some memories are realities, and are better than anything that can ever happen to one again.

Aham Brahmasmi

Aham Brahmasmi (Sanskrit: "I am Brahman") — is one of the great Vedic Dicta or Mahavakya. Famous phrase often repeated in the Upanishads. In this ecstatic statement of enlightenment, "I" does not refer to the individuality or outer nature, but to the essence of the Self which is ever identical to Brahman, the Supreme Being as Satchidananda

‘AHAM BRAHMASMI’ means, I am part of the Universe.
‘Whatever is in the Universe, is present in me’ (and ‘whatever is in me, is part of the Universe’).
This Universe is made up of 10 BASIC UNIVERSAL ENERGY ELEMENTS(MAHABHOOTAS). The Basic Universal Energy Element (Mahabhoot) means, source of Bio Energy(Bhoot). There are 10 such Energy Elements. They are as follows.
1. 1st Energy Element – ‘Creative’ or ‘Tama’ Element.
2. 2nd Energy Element – ‘Sky’ (Ether) Element.
3. 3rd Energy Element – ‘Air’ (wind) Element.
4. 4th Energy Element – ‘Fire’ Element.
5. 5th Energy Element – ‘Water’ Element.
6. 6th Energy Element – ‘Earth’ Element.
7. 7th Energy Element – ‘Time’ Element.
8. 8th Energy Element – ‘Direction’ Element.
9. 9th Energy Element –‘Mind’ Element.
10. 10th Energy Element – ‘Soul’ Element.
All the above 10 Elements are present in the Universe and same Elements are present in all human beings.
This is called ‘AHAM BRAHMASMI’ Concept.
.
“Om purnam adah, purnam idam, purnat purnam udacyate,
Purnasya purnam adaya, purnam evavasisyate.”
That is full; this is full; This fullness has been projected from that fullness. When this fullness merges in that fullness, fullness is all that remains.
